Gondomar Sport Clube expresses its deepest sorrow for the tragic loss of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, victims of a car accident in the early hours of today, July 3, 2025.
In this moment of grief and shock, we inform you that our President, Álvaro Cerqueira, who had a close relationship with the athlete, has been contacted by various media outlets over the past few hours. However, the President is in a state of shock, having been in direct contact with Diogo Jota moments before the accident, making this moment even harder to process.
On behalf of the Board, coaches, athletes, and the entire club structure, we express our full solidarity with the family, friends, teammates, and all those who mourn this irreparable loss today.
We ask for understanding and respect for the silence of our President and all those who share this pain in silence with him.
Diogo Jota and André Silva will always be remembered as examples of humility, hard work, and passion for football.
